Centreville  area students were among the 448 regional awards given to FCPS students in the Scholastic Art Awards competition sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. 

 Their work will be on display at Northern Virginia Community College’s Ernst Community Cultural Center in Annandale from Friday, February 11, through Thursday, February 24.  An awards ceremony for Gold and Silver Key winners is planned for Tuesday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m.

For the 1,677 entries from FCPS students, 171 Gold Keys (GK), 141 Silver Keys, and 136 Certificates of Merit were awarded for outstanding drawings, paintings, prints, photographs, ceramics and glass pieces, sculptures, digital art, film and animation, architecture, fashion, jewelry, comic art, design, mixed media, and portfolios.  

 The following Centreville area students earned Scholastic Art Awards:

 Gold Key award-winning entries will be submitted to the national Scholastic Art Awards competition, where students are awarded national Gold and Silver Keys, as well as monetary awards and scholarships.  Awards will be announced in April, and an exhibit of the national winners’ works will be on display in New York later this year.
