A Rural Retreat, Just Down the Road

Bull Run Regional Park offers locals a chance to get away from it all.

Spring may be just around the corner, but we’ve got a few more weeks of cold weather to endure. Why not spend one of winter’s last weekends in a cozy log cabin?

has six log cabins available for rental year round. Each unit has both heating and air conditioning, which makes for what Campground Supervisor Ann Cole calls “comfortable camping” during any season.

Cabin furnishings include a double bed (guests bring their own linens), two bunk beds, a table and chairs, a refrigerator, and a microwave. A grill, picnic table, and fire pit are among the outdoor amenities offered.

The cabins lack their own bathrooms, but the well-kept bathhouse, also equipped with showers and pay laundry machines, is just a short walk away.

During their stay, campers can take advantage of Bull Run’s hiking trails, shooting and archery center, fields, and playgrounds. In the summer, cabin guests receive half-price admission to Atlantis Waterpark, located on the Bull Run Regional Park grounds.

Guests may stay in their rustic cabin in the woods for a minimum of two nights and a maximum of seven (the two-night minimum is waived during the winter months). A two-night nonrefundable deposit is required.

If you’d like to book a cabin for a holiday or during the summer, Cole recommends making a reservation early in the year. Reservations can be made through December 2011.
