Centreville High School Field Hockey News

Lady Wildcats start off season strong.

The Centreville Wildcats field hockey team has started their season strong, posting a 7-1 record. The Lady Wildcats went undefeated in the last week of August.

On Tuesday, Aug. 28, the team defeated Hayfield High School, 2-0, with goals by junior Katherine Zempolich and senior Carly Sane. On Thursday, Aug. 30, the Lady Wildcats beat Thomas Jefferson High School, 5-1, with a hat trick by Zempolich as well as goals by seniors Gabby Dagata and Brooke Peterson.

Centreville lost a tough battle against Marshall High School, 0-1, on Sept. 5. The team quickly bounced back by defeating South Lakes High School, 3-2, on Sept. 7. In that contest, senior Lindsay Egbers scored two goals and Sane scored one.

Centreville’s goalies, senior Megan Cruse and junior Ashley Winkeler have both shown great skill in the cage this season.

The team is scheduled to play Concorde District rival Chantilly High School at home on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m.
