Centreville Man Dies in Fiery Crash on Route 28
Man's truck hit stopped tractor-trailer Monday at red light at Route 28 and Interstate 66.
George Tabash, 27, of Centreville was killed early Monday morning after the truck he was driving slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer stopped at a red light at Sully Road/Route 28 and Interstate 66, according to a news release from Fairfax County Police.
Police did not say in which direction the vehicles were headed.
The crash occurred at about 1:45 a.m. Monday. Tabash's 2007 Chevy Avalanche pickup truck erupted into flames and he died at the scene, police said.
The 44-year-old man driving the tractor-trailer, from Pennsylvania, was not hurt in the crash, according to police.
Detectives have not yet determined whether speed or alcohol are factors in the crash and the investigation is continuing.

George was a student of mine at Chantilly H.S. I knew him, his sisters and parents. George came from a wonderful, loving family, His parents are dedicated to their children and all are wonderful people. I also coached George in football. George was a really nice guy. He was kind, thoughtful and shy as a freshman. It is a tradegy and our hearts, thoughts and prayers goes out to the entire Tabash family. To lose a son on the last day of the year in horrific car crash is just unthinkable. We all liked George. He will surely be missed by many. I guess God had other plans for George in heaven. When my best friend's daughter who is very good, long term, personal friends with the Tabash family called us today hysterical, telling us that George died in this fiery truck crash, we were totally shocked and saddened at this terrible news on new years eve. To the Tabash family, if there is anything Diane and I can do to help, please don't hesitate to contact us, We are there for you all in thought, prayer and deed.
God Bless you all.....

George and I worked for the same company. He was friendly, and genuine. He was a big guy, with an even bigger heart and smile. Always positive, and he seemed to enjoy working with the customer. He will be missed.
Sending blessings to his family...

I did not know George personally but I knew of him through many conversations I had with his sister Leslie (my co-worker). When Leslie spoke of George it was always regarding his compassion and sense of humor. I want Leslie, Lilian, Kathy and Mr. & Mrs. Tabash to know that there are many people praying with and for you. It is my personal prayer that the many fond memories of George will sustain and keep you during the days, months and years ahead.
Peace and Blessings to all of you,
Myra
