Centreville News Roundup: New Questions Emerge Following Manhunt for MS-13 Gang Member
A summary of news on the web this week about crimes in our community.
Trial dates have been set for a former teacher accused of assaulting two boys and a McLean man arrested on child porn charges. New details have also emerged on the investigation surrounding the man who allegedly raped an 8-year-old Centreville girl.
Under the federal "Secure Communities" program, Salvador Portillo-Saravia, 29, a member of the MS-13 gang, should have been identified as an illegal immigrant and taken into custody weeks ago, the Washington Post reported yesterday. Portillo-Saravia was arrested in Loudoun for public intoxication in 2010 and is accused of raping an 8-year-old Centreville girl. Police in both Loudoun and Fairfax Counties are now searching for him. Read more on the story by clicking here.
The CentreView also had updates this week on two more, unrelated crimes. Jennah Billeter, 33, a former special ed teacher at Deer Park, was arrested last summer for allegedly assaulting and mistreating two boys, a 4-year-old and a 5-year-old who were attending the school's summer program for autistic kids. Her trial is scheduled to take place on Feb. 16.
Joshua Gessler, 41, of McLean, was also recently indicted by a grand jury on 16 charges of child pornography. Police arrested Gessler back in August for allegedly luring a 15-year-old girl into posing for him in sexually provocative poses. His trial will take place on March 28.
