Girls Lacrosse—On March 29, the Centreville varsity girls lacrosse team came out strong and held on to their lead to outplay South County, 16-7.

The Wildcats had three different players record four goals—midfielder Hayley Anderson and attackmen Maggie Dulkerain and Jessie Dagata. Jessica Kim (four assists) and Flo Duong (one goal and seven ground balls) backed up the offensive play for the Wildcats.

On the defensive end, Mackenzie Johnson, Taylor O'Hara and Erin Meador shut down the South County offense and each recorded an interception. The team has now improved its record to 3-0.

Girls Soccer—Centreville varsity soccer team defeated Robinson, 2 – 0, on March 28. Both Alex Myers and Haley Yow (assisted by Sarah Karlik) had a goal in Centreville's victory.

Goalie Taylor Avery posted the shut-out with four saves. The Lady Wildcats then
took on Lee High School the evening of March 31, and won 5 - 0.  Both
teams played hard, despite freezing rain and low temperatures. At the end
of the first half Centreville was up by two with goals by Mari Marotta
(assisted by Danielle Dull) and Isabel Chang (assisted by Haley Yow).

The Wildcats came back strong in the second half with goals by Isabel Chang,
Sarah Karlik and Jenna Green. Katie O'Donnell assisted both Karlik and Green. Goalie Taylor Avery had three saves for the game. The team now stands 6 - 0 for the season.

Boys Soccer: The boys soccer team improved their record to 4-2-1 in their fifth game of the season, against Robinson High School.

Andres Garcia scored the first goal in the 37th minute with an assist from Luis Navarro. The team’s second goal came in the 52nd minute of the game. Connor Coward was able to track down a ball not cleared by the Robinson defense and deliver a cannon shot into the goal. Robinson then came from behind and put one on the board. Tyler Lawrence delivered their third goal with an assist by Andres Garcia in the fifty-seventh minute of the game. The final score was 3-1.

The team next traveled to Robert E. Lee High School for the sixth game of the season, on March 30. These two teams played through sleet and rain for
the majority of the game. In the first half of the game, Connor Coward shot
at goal and hit the crossbar, but Tyler Lawrence took the rebound and
finished the play with a chest shot into the goal.

During the second half, Luis Navarro received a ball and quickly attacked the Lancer defense, getting inside the penalty area where he was fouled. Haywaad Ahmadzai then scored on the penalty kick placing the ball just to the left of the keeper. The Wildcats won 2-0 over  the Robert E Lee Lancers.

Girls Tennis—The Lady Wildcats competed hard against an exceptional Oakton
team but ended up with the loss, 8-1, on a very cold Tuesday afternoon,
March 29.

The team was forced to play without two of their regular team members but
played with tenacity and stamina. The lone win came from the doubles #3 team,
Shauna Kistner and Astrid Unson, who managed to win a very tight match,
11-9.  The team's record is now 2-1.

Boys Tennis—So far this season the boys tennis team is 1-2, going into a
period when they face district rivals Robinson and Westfield high schools. In the
past weeks, the team posted a loss to Herndon, 5-4, then won at Chantilly,
5-4. They closed out the busy week with a loss to Oakton, 6-3.

Baseball—The Wildcats dropped a 2-0 decision at Cape Henry Collegiate on March 25, and a 13-1 decision at Atlantic Shores Christian Academy on March 26, to fall 0-4 on the season.

Junior right-hander Mitch Mahoney, who had not received a run of support now in 11 innings of work, was the hard-luck losing pitcher in Friday’s game. Senior righty Chance Roman, making his first career high school start, took the loss on Saturday.

Centreville has managed just five runs on eight hits in their first four games, and will look to turn that around when they host Wakefield, which also enters the game 0-4 after a 12-0 loss to Yorktown on Wednesday night. The Warriors have allowed 56 runs in their four games, which could bode well for the quiet Wildcat bats. The game served as Centreville’s last non-league game before beginning their Concorde District slate.
