"Flowers for Algernon" opens at Westfield High School Friday and continues through the weekend.

A summary of the play is available on the Westfield Theatre Boosters Facebook page: "Set in 1965, this powerful play tells the story of an endearing mentally retarded man, Charlie Gordon. Charlie's teacher, Alice Kinnian, recommends he undergo a highly experimental brain procedure in the hopes that he will become progressively smarter. Although seemingly successful, the complicated procedure brings equally complex repercussions: relationships are vastly changed, power struggles ensue, and deep memories from a dark, unwholesome past are finally confronted in this haunting and touching narrative."

Tickets are $10 online or $12 at the door. High school students with an ID can see the show for $10. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 and 16, and 2 p.m. on Feb. 17.

Westfield High's publicity and marketing team created the above video trailer.
