Merrifield Makes Planting Fun For Kids

A lot of kids enjoyed free planting this weekend!

The Merrifield Garden Center has free events every week.  Some of them are great for kids.

The Merrifield "Just for Kids" program is a very good program for all ages.  They do it every few months.  You can register on their website.

In February, at their Fair Oaks Store, kids got to make a terrarium.  Every kid got a nice glass bowl, soil, rocks, and three small plants.

First the kids sat on the carpet and heard about different plants.  The friendly lady at Merrifield Garden Center told the kids a couple of facts about plants and told us how to make the terrarium. Then after that you got off the carpet, it was time to make your project.

When you were done with your project, you could decorate your vase with different rocks and moss.

There was also a snack and drink for the kids.  They also had coffee and cookies for the parents.

The important thing is to just have fun and remember to water your plants.  So come to Merrifield’s kid program and have an awesome time.
