New Pre-K Class at Centreville Preschool

Centreville Preschool is now offering its first Pre-Kindergarten class to four and five year old students. The class will meet four days a week on Monday through Thursday afternoons starting this September. Participants must turn five years old by December 31, 2013. A limited number of spots are still available in the class for the 2013-2014 school year.

Students will participate in learning centers, crafts, free art expression, outdoor and imaginative play, as well as sensory, science, and music activities. The class will provide a creative and supportive environment where students are prepared academically and socially for entry into kindergarten.

Centreville Preschool hired Mrs. Colleen Jones to teach the Pre-K class. Mrs. Jones is a former Fairfax County Schools employee and graduate of the University of Virginia with a Master’s degree in Education. She has five years of professional experience working in public and private education.

“I am excited to return to the classroom and to tackle the important job of building the Pre-K program at Centreville Preschool,” says Jones.

For the new Pre-K class, a paid aide will assist Ms. Jones every Monday while parents will take turns assisting on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. If parents are interested in a five-day arrangement, they can also enroll their child in the Friday Explorers class.

As a cooperative school, Centreville Preschool depends on parent participation in and out of the classroom. This cooperative arrangement not only allows parents to be actively involved in their child’s education, but also reduces program costs creating affordable tuition rates. All Centreville Preschool classes offer parents the choice of lower cost cooperative rates or regular priced rates with no volunteer requirements. The cooperative rate for the new Pre-K course is only $333 per month or $2,997 per year, plus a one-time $100 supply fee. The non-cooperative rate is $442 per month.

Centreville Preschool is an award-winning and fully state licensed preschool located in the historic section of Centreville on Braddock Road, near the intersection of Routes 28 and 29. It offers two, three, and four-day classes for children ages two and a half to five years old. Each class is offered in half-day morning and afternoon sessions.
