Board of Supervisors Honors "Lord and Lady Fairfax"

The Sully District's Lauren Kirby and Pete Kirby were among the honorees.

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors recognized twenty volunteers for their contributions to the community at the Fairfax County Government Center last night.

The Celebrate Fairfax! Salute began in 1984 as a way to recognize exceptional citizens of Fairfax County. Each year, two citizens from each magisterial district are selected by the Board of Supervisors and are named Lord and Lady Fairfax. These citizens are recognized for going above and beyond the call of service to their community.

"This year's theme is: 'The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in service of others,'" said Master of Ceremonies Pete Murphy in his introductory remarks. "Tonight, we honor a small group of dedicated citizens who lose themselves in the service of others."
