Centreville No. 17 on List of Best Places to Live

Money Magazine says the community strikes "the right balance for those who want to escape big-city life without sacrificing big-city job opportunities."

Quit complaining about the commute: Centreville has once again made Money magazine's list of the top 100 places to live

In fact, this unincoroporated suburban community ranks no. 17 in the nation. The only community in Virginia that tops it on the list is Reston, which ranks no. 7.

"Centreville strikes the right balance for those who want to escape big-city life without sacrificing big-city job opportunities. Though the commute to Washington, D.C., can be lengthy due to traffic, Centreville is within reasonable driving distance of both mountain and beach getaways," the magazine's write-up reads.

To make it on Money's annual list, a small city must "offer strong job opportunities, great schools, low crime, and a true sense of community."

Clearly a lot of people think Centreville is also a great place to raise a family: 41 percent of households are raising children under age 18, according to data from the 2010 U.S. Census. The area is also very diverse: 26 percent of the population is of Asian descent, and 13 percent are Hispanic.
