Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, begins Tuesday night. Looking for a place to celebate the holiday? Check out these options in and near Northern Virginia. 

National Menorah Lighting

Dec. 20, 4 p.m. The Ellipse, 1600 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, DC Celebrate the beginning of Hanukkah with speeches, music, activities for kids and the lighting of the National Menorah by Rabbi Levi Shemtov. This event is free, but tickets are required. (202) 332-5600.

Dec. 22, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Gather with the community at Lake Anne and take part in the lighting of a giant ice menorah by Reston founder Robert E. Simon.

The celebration will continue at  for family entertainment, prize drawings, Hanukkah donuts, latkes, chocolate gelt, a family Hanukkah film and fun. Free admission.

Hanukkah Festival in Alexandria
Dec. 25, 6 p.m. Crown Plaza Hotel, 901 N Fairfax St., Alexandria. Chabad Lubavitch of Alexandria-Arlington sponsors a Menorah Lighting, dreidels, lakes and donuts. (703)370-2774. 

Hands on Hanukkah at the JCC
Dec. 25,  11 a.m-3 p.m. Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia, 8900 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax. The event includes arts and crafts, games and activities, moon bounce, face painting, balloon artist and more.  (703) 323-0880.
