Remembering Meghan

Family and friends gathered to honor the life of a young woman who died in a car crash in Nov. 2010.

Twenty-year-old , her boyfriend and a friend were traveling down Lee Hwy in Gainesville last year, when another driver who was allegedly high on PCP and speeding, crashed into their car. 

Jandrositz, a Centreville native who also lived in Chantilly during high school, died in the accident. Her friend, David Vernon Richardson, 50, who was sitting in the backseat, also died in the collision. Her boyfriend was badly burned. The driver of the other vehicle, Carlos Eugene Lucas, 22 at the time, was , among other charges. Lucas has not been tried yet in Prince William County Circuit Court. 

On Nov. 19th, the one-year anniversary of Jandrositz's death, her family and friends gathered to with a roadside ceremony and plaque dedication. Rev. Marci Huntsman, from  led the group in the Lord's Prayer and recitation of a prayer for Jandrositz. She then prayed over a wooden plaque the family placed by the site of the accident. Debra Wines, Meghan Jandrositz's mother, read a poem about her daughter's life, and her feelings of loss. A bagpipe player also played "Amazing Grace" and other songs.
