NWS: Fairfax County Under Winter Weather Advisory Monday Morning

Sleet, freezing rain expected from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Fairfax County for Monday, from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Sleet and freezing rain is expected to hit Northern Virginia during the morning rush hour, according to the National Weather Service. The precipitation is expected to develop before dawn and continue through mid-morning. Temperatures will be about 30 degrees, just under freezing.

The weather service advises that "icing will produce slippery conditions on untreated roads, bridges and sidewalks, particularly during the Monday morning commute."
