Sikh Teen Advocates for Tolerance

Mansimran Singh Kahlon, a , is the subject of a new video put together by a nonprofit organization advocating for tolerance.

Breakthrough, a organization that advocates for human rights, profiled Kahlon's experiences as part of an initiative called "Restore Fairness," which promotes reform in immigration and advocates against racial profiling, among other issues. The video has seen over 3,300 hits on YouTube and portions were shot in Centreville. 

Kahlon, now a student at Rutgers University, was born in India. He was raised in Centreville. He is no stranger to advocacy: at the 2011 United Sikhs Summit in Washington, D.C., he spoke to members of Congress about Sikh human rights and promoting respect across cultures. In the video, he speaks about what it is like to be both an American and a Sikh.
