Updated: Sleet, Freezing Rain Expected Tonight

National Weather Service issues winter advisory.

Updated: All Fairfax County Public Schools are closed on Tuesday, along with School Age Child Care Centers. Government offices are open. General District Court will open at noon, Circuit Court will open on time. Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court has the morning docket cancelled; afternoon docket begins at 1:30 p.m.

Expect a potentially nasty commute tomorrow morning, if predictions from the National Weather Service for tonight are on target.

The NWS has issued a winter weather advisory, calling for snow, sleet and freezing rain, in effect from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. tomorrow. The chances of a "wintry mix" tonight are at 100 percent. The snow and sleet will arrive first, changing to freezing rains around 2 a.m. Roads could be slippery tomorrow morning as a result. 

Be sure to bundle up if you're heading out: temperatures will be around 31 degrees tonight, with a light wind heading in from the east. Tomorrow, things will warm up slightly, with temperatures going up to 39 degrees.
