Anyone Missing a Sheep, or Four?

The stray sheep that traveled through Virginia Run this weekend are the talk of the neighborhood, but where did they come from?

The scene in Virginia Run on Friday night could almost have been out of a scene from the children's movie Madagascar, as four sheep traveled across busy roads and manicured suburban lawns.

Fairfax County animal control officers rounded the sheep up on the 6500 block of Marston Cluster shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday morning, and brought them back to the shelter. The obvious question remained, though: where did the sheep come from?

Fairfax County animal control officers still don't know. There are only so many places that can keep sheep in a suburban community with a lot of development. They weren't from Cox Farms, which is just down the road. All sheep there are accounted for, according to farmer Aaron Cox.

If no one comes to claim the sheep, they will be available for adoption on April 24, Fairfax County police spokesperson Lucy Caldwell said.
