The Morning Commute: What to Expect

And five things you need to know about last night's flooding.

Commuters should plan to drive along their normal routes in the morning, but allow extra time and caution due to Thursday night's flooding, according to Fairfax County.

A flood warning is in effect until 5 a.m. Friday, according to Fairfax County's emergency blog. This means that flooding is imminent or has been reported. The county says that drivers should venture down their usual routes, but with caution. There may still be debris, standing water or damaged roads.

Allow extra time in the morning and don't drive through standing water—even if the road isn't blocked off. The law also requires that headlights remain on when windshield wipers are off.
