Current weather forecasts predict a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms in Centreville on Saturday with showers following throughout the night.  

Hurricane Irene, now upgraded to a category 3 hurricane, picked up speed and strength today as it turned toward the East Coast, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

Irene lumbered into the Bahamas at 9 mph Tuesday night and winds inside the the storm have now reached 115 mph. The storm's projected path was adjusted steadily to the east throughout the day Tuesday.
