What's Up With the Manassas National Battlefield Visitor Center?

Don't plan on taking your holiday visitors to the Manassas National Battlefield Park Visitor Center this month to see the full range of Civil War displays.  Parts of the center will be closed intermittently until spring.

Work is underway to install a fire protection system at the Henry Hill Visitor Center, located in Manassas. The park itself spans two counties, Prince William and Fairfax and is the primary destination for the 125,000 people who visit this year.
The actual battlefield shouldn't be affected by the work.

The plan is to expand the existing dry pipe sprinkler and replace the existing fire alarm to increase fire protection in the building, according to a press release issued by the National Park Service.

Officials will try to schedule the work in a way that won't impact visitation, but the visitor center may need to be closed to the public during installation times.

The park will relocate museum items to the National Capital Region’s Museum Resource Center in Landover for storage as the display areas are impacted.
