Some free stuff and special deals for veterans.

Happy Veterans Day! Here's a list of deals open to veterans and active duty military personnel. Some of these deals are taken from a list distributed to active and former military; a couple are specific to this area. When the business offering a deal is part of a chain, we've linked to some of the closest locations to Centreville.

—One free ice cream product, free of charge, from Saturday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

Speedy Green Car Wash—Free car wash on Friday, anytime between 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The wash is located at 8411 Centreville Road, Manassas Park. 

—Choose a free meal from seven different entrees. Military ID is required. 

—Free meal. Choose from one out of six. Proof of service required. 

—Military appreciation dinner on Monday, Nov. 14th. from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

—Free wings for vets. Drink purchase required. 

McCormick & Schmicks—Sunday, Nov. 13th, choose a complimentary lunch or dinner entree from a special menu. Nearby locations:,, Arlington.

Outback Steakhouse—Free Bloomin' Onion and Coca-Cola product during the week leading up to Veterans Day. Must have military ID, a photo of yourself in uniform, or be wearing a uniform. Nearby locations: Chantilly, Clifton.

—Free six-inch sub with military ID.

—Free meal from opening until 4 p.m.

—Buy one, get one free with current or old military ID. 

—Show up in uniform (or bring a picture of yourself in uniform), or present an ID to get a free entree or individual pizza if you purchase one of equal or greater value.

Home Depot—Ten percent off purchases up to $2,000. 

Lowe's—Ten percent discount off purchases up to $5,000.

Sam's Club–free canes distributed to military veterans. ID may be required. Closest location: Sterling.

National parks—Free admission in over 100 participating parks.

Also, all Virginia State Parks have free parking for the public today. The deal is also open to Virginia veterans, military and their families for the rest of the year.
