Concorde District Player of the Year: Alex Myers
Centreville Wildcats Girls Varsity soccer player named Player of the Year
Sixteen-year-old Alexandra Myers won the Concorde District’s Player of the Year award for 2011. Myers, a sophomore at , just finished her second successful season for the Lady Wildcats varsity soccer team.
Myers’s coach, Gary Malebranche, as Concorde’s Coach of the Year.
Myers was surprised she was chosen as Player of the Year when Malebranche called her and told her the good news. “I didn’t think it would be me,” she said.

Myers, who has played soccer since she was 3 years old, started off playing Pee Wee soccer. Then she played for SYA and club teams. Thirteen years of playing have paid off for her. The center forward player is a big asset for Wildcat soccer.
An early season game was her most memorable game this season.

“I scored my first high school goal, “ Myers said with a big smile, of her score against . “The day before that game after practice, I took like 50 kicks. I stayed there and just took a lot of shots. So in that next game, I scored.”
The Lady Wildcats had a standout 13-3 season.
“We did a lot better than I thought we would do. We only lost three games,” Myers said. On top of that record, the Lady Wildcats in the 2011 Regional Girls Soccer Tournament. .
Myers plans to go to college and play soccer. But until then, AAA Concorde division teams will have another two years of Alex Myers playing for the Lady Wildcats.
