Hurricane Irene Update: A Quiet Evening in Centreville

So far Centreville hasn't seen much bad weather as Hurricane Irene sweeps across neighboring areas of Virginia.

Saturday, 9 p.m. It's been a quiet evening so far in Centreville, with little more than a light rain and occasional wind touching the ground. 

Still, Centreville isn't completely out of the woods just yet. There is still a flash flood warning in effect for the entire county until 11 p.m. and a tropical storm warning. Hurricane Irene is still located near the Virginia Beach area and making its way closer to the capital area. The worst of it should occur around midnight. Showers should continue until around 8 a.m., according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service. 

Other areas have experienced much worse conditions. Over 20,000 Dominion customers , with most outages around Arlington and Alexandria. Crews will not be sent out to fix the outages until weather conditions improve. Six NOVEC customers in Fairfax are also without power.
