Photos: Fairfax's Finest Honored With Valor Awards

County first responders receive awards.

Fairfax County's first responders were honored at the 33rd Annual Valor Awards Ceremony on Monday.

Thirty-one Lifesaving Awards, 11 Certificates of Valor and 22 Bronze & Silver Medals of Valor were presented to Fairfax County public safety personnel who acted above and beyond the call of duty, exposed themselves to great personal risk or life-threatening situations and exercised unusual judgement, zeal or ingenuity to aid others. The event was hosted by the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce at the Tysons Hilton.

All net proceeds from the event benefit the Valor Scholarship Fund, a foundation that provides postsecondary education scholarships to the children of Medal of Valor receipients from the Police and Fire & Rescue Departments and the Office of the Sheriff.  So far this year, over $150,000 has been raised.
