Weird News: Mangoes Thrown, Pet Door Burglar, Pies Against Cancer

 - In a fit of rage, a man threw mangoes, attempted arson and destroyed displays at a convenience store in Arlington just after midnight Friday. The man had been standing in line when he decided the customer ahead of him was taking too long.

In other crime news, it seems like some would-be burglars chose to make some interesting entrances and exits this week.

Police: Would-Be Burglar Enters Home Through Pet Door — A resident reported that someone forced their way into their Fairfax Station home — apparently through a pet door — but nothing was stolen, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Intruder Runs Through Glass Door in Chantilly-Area Break-In — A man attempting to escape a home he had broken into Tuesday morning ran through a glass door, shattering the glass, after the homeowner confronted him in the kitchen of the home.

Pie in the Face Puts Spotlight on Relay for Life — For the sixth year in a row, members of the Leesburg Town Council and town government employees have taken pies in the face to draw attention to the annual Relay for Life of Western Loudoun.

Police: Intoxicated Woman Found in Backyard of Home — According to police, a homeowner called police saying someone entered their home at 3:35 a.m. Tuesday near the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. Police arrived and though nothing had been stolen from inside the home, they found a woman sitting in the yard, according to police.

Cat Stuck in Drain Pipe — Even the fire department couldn’t rescue a cat in Alexandria. Alexandria Fire Department officials, assisting animal control officers, located a cat stuck in a drain pipe by using a pipe camera. The officer and the fire department attempted to rescue the cat by inserting a water hose into the pipe and even running water through the pipe, but the cat would not come out. The owner was told to dig up the pipe to get the cat out.
