Fifth Annual Lovettsville Christkindlmarkt--A Traditional European Christmas Market

The Loudoun Valley German Society is sponsoring the fifth annual Christkindlmarkt--a traditional European Christmas market--on November 24th and 25th  at the Lovettsville Game Protective Association located at 16 South Berlin Turnpike in Lovettsville. The hours of the market are on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It will feature five live musical entertainment acts that will be playing traditional German, Austrian, Celtic, and Appalachian holiday music; warm typical market foods such as bratwurst, currywurst, Alsatian sauerkraut, Kartoffelpuffer (potato pancakes),  Wienerschnitzel, artisan sweets, Glühwein (mulled wine), local microbrews from Lovettsville’s own Mad Horse Brewpub; over 20 local artists, crafters, and vendors; and there will be free children’s face and hair painting and German Christmas storytelling by the Harmony Middle School German Language students as well as two German puppet theatre presentations.

This is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season in a unique environment and find those special holiday gifts. Out of town holiday guests will be treated to typical German Gemütlichkeit for which Lovettsville, formerly known as the German Settlement, is known. Entrance to the market is $3.00 for 13 years and older and free for all others. The fee is good for both days of the market. Net proceeds will benefit the local cub scout pack that the Loudoun Valley German Society charters and other local nonprofits.
