Centreville UMC is a distribution location for GRACE Ministries of the United Methodist Church. Monthly distributions of food, clothing and diapers are held at seven locations across northern Virginia. Families and individuals are welcome to select a distribution site close to their home.
Set-up for the monthly distribution is held on the Friday prior to the Saturday distribution from 4 - 7pm. All are invited to serve as a volunteers to prepare for Saturday's distribution event. Volunteers help with separating and folding clothes, packaging meal bags, and setting up tables and chairs. Community Service hours are available for those who are seeking service opportunities.
GRACE Ministries is a faith-based organization, established to address the most pressing material and spriritual needs of low-income immigrants in the region and to empower immigrants to become community leaders. GRACE Ministries provides emergency food, clothing, household items, diapers and healthcare information and screenings at nine United Methodist Churches in Northern Virginia. GRACE Ministries also provides job training programs to become personal care aides and certified nurse aides. This combination of services is meant to provide assistance to ease emergency situations and also provide a more long-term employment solution that will offer career opportunities in areas of significant workforce needs. Existing since January 1999, GRACE Ministries is an independently incorporated 501(c)(3), community outreach program located in and serving over 1,000 families each month in Northern Virginia.
