Old Post Office Tower Best Way to See All of Washington DC

Explore DC's hidden secret.

The Old Post Office Tower is located on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC. It is a  that most people do not know about.

When you enter the building, there are lots of restaurants and stores.

Follow the signs near the stage to go to the tower. You go in and there is an elevator. On level six you go to another elevator.

On level 10 are the official Bells of Congress that are rung on national holidays and Thursdays for practice. One of the Park Rangers described the bells as "loud and big."

You can get back on another elevator and go to top floor to see the observation deck. The windows are open but have strings on them.

Ranger Julia said, "This is the best view of Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland. You can see the Washington Monument which is closed so we have the best view."

There were no lines and you did not need tickets.

You can see the , Capitol, , Smithsonian Museums, , Arlington Cemetery, and lots more.

McKenna, age 8, from Los Angeles said, "My favorite thing I can see out the window is the Washington Monument. It is my first time here."

Come visit the Old Post Office Tower soon before it closes for construction. They are planning to turn it into a hotel, but will keep the tour.

I didn't know about this national park. I will have to visit this one soon! Does your family have a NPS passport? I love keeping track of all the places I've visited over the years in mine.
