This Week at the Smart Markets Centreville Farmers' Market

Today is the last day of our market for the season, but we hope to see you at our year-round markets in Gainesville and Oakton and at Fairfax Corner.

Dear Shopper,

This it it for 2010 at Trinity Centre, and we thank all of you for a great market this year.  You have been very loyal shoppers and have shown great support for all of our local purveyors of local foods.

We want to be able to keep in touch with you over the winter months, particularly if you will be shopping at one of our other markets. We also post newsletters for our year-round markets on the Fairfax City and Oakton Patch sites, so look for us there.

We are accepting orders for fresh Thanksgiving turkeys.  The Mennonite co-op that comes to Oakton all winter will bring them to that market on the Saturday before Thanksgiving and also will make a special trip to our Reston market site on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. If there is a demand for it, we will also have the turkeys delivered to the Fairfax Corner market on Tuesday. Feel free to email me at jean@smartmarkets.org with any questions you have.

On this last day of the market, think about stocking your freezer. You can buy and freeze for the future Angelic Beef's beef and Cavanna's Pasta.  You may still be able to buy some tomatoes to can or use for a simple tomato sauce that you can freeze. And of course you can buy apples for applesauce, which freezes beautifully in small containers for the lunch box all winter long.

Which doesn't mean we expect you to go into market withdrawal. We are so close by at Gainesville on Sundays where you can pick up BBQ for the game, Oakton on Saturdays where you can be first in line for the big surprise, or at Fairfax Corner, where you can buy grass-fed beef, forest-raised pork, free-range chicken and eggs.

See you at the market!

Jean
