American Muslims to Celebrate Black History Month

American Muslims to Celebrate Black History Month.

February is a Black History month, a month Americans celebrate each year to honor and commemorat African American heritage.  Our nation has came a long way. As an American Muslim, I know that our nation has to go a long way to achieve true racial harmony.

American Muslims should know that Prophet Muhammad taught how to develop and maintain true harmony in any society.

The civil liberties that were introduced in America in the 1960s were practiced some 1400 years ago when Prophet Muhammad laid the foundation of a society in Medina. In Medina, Jews, Christians, and Muslims all lived in equality and harmony under the Charter of Medina.

In his last address Prophet Muhammad said: “Even as the fingers of the two hands are equal, so are human beings equal to one another. No one has any right, any superiority to claim over another. You are as brothers." These teachings are epitome of any civil society or civil rights movement and a blue print to achieve true racial, religious, social, and economic harmony.
