Barry Allen Gorodnick

Born: Dec. 9, 1964

Died: May 12, 2012

Date of Memorial Service: Thursday, May 17

After battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma for nearly 18 months, Barry Allen Gorodnick passed away at his Centreville home on Saturday, May 12 at the age of 47. The son of Bill and Mary Gorodnick, he is survived by his wife of 13 years, Jennifer, children, Kaitlyn, Taylor and Ryan, brothers, Mark and Paul, niece, Rachael, and nephew, Zachary. Gorodnick is a graduate of , class of 1983, and Salem College, class of 1988. After college, he returned to Robinson, where he taught and coached football and softball for 24 years. 

A at Robinson Secondary School, 5035 Sideburn Road, Fairfax, Va. 22032, the afternoon of Thursday, May 17, followed by a private interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.gofundme.com/barryg to assist the Gorodnick family in paying remaining medical expenses.

Jose Olegario Machuca

Born: April 4, 1939

Died: May 14, 2012

Date of Memorial Service: Friday, May 18

Jose Olegario Machuca passed away on Monday, May 14 in Centreville at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife, Antonia Luisa, children, Wilbert Rivera, Nelson M. Hernandez, Jose A. Machuca, Sulia Rosa, Olegario Hasmeed Machuca, Jaime H. Machuca and Francisco A. Rivas, and sisters, Isabel Duarte and Elva Quintanilla.  

Friends and family attended a memorial service for Machuca on Friday, May 18 at , 9609 Center St., Manassas. Later that day, Machuca was laid to rest at , 12004 Lee Highway, Manassas.

Teri Miyoshi Guess

Born: June 23, 1954

Died: May 22, 2012

Date of Memorial Service: Wednesday, May 30 (visitation) & Thursday, May 31 (service)

Following a 15-month battle with congestive heart failure, Teri Miyoshi Guess passed away at her Clifton home on Tuesday, May 22 at the age of 57. A California native, Guess studied environmental science at San Jose State University. After several moves back and forth between California and Virginia, Guess and her family settled in Clifton in 1994. A two-time colon cancer survivor, she is survived by her husband, Mitch, children, Matt and Kim, and siblings, Janis Miyoshi, Susan Murphy (Tom), Kathy Ma (Peter) and Russell Miyoshi.

A visitation for Guess will be held on Wednesday, May 30, followed by a memorial service on Thursday, May 31 at , 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax.

Leonora “Aunt Nora” Raffaele

Born: Jan. 11, 1916

Died: May 25, 2012

Date of Memorial Service: Tuesday, May 29 (visitation) & Wednesday, May 30 (Mass of Christian Burial) 

Daughter of the late Antonio and Marietta (nee Messina) Raffaele, Leonora “Aunt Nora” Raffaele, of Clifton, passed away on Friday, May 25 at the age of 96. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Pierina and Frank Raffaele, and survived by her sister, Josephine, niece, Marietta Hamilton (Wayne), great-niece Nicole Hamilton, great-nephew, Richard Hamilton (Tania), and great-great nephews, Alexander Charles Hamilton and Kolton Wayne Hamilton. 

A visitation will be held for Raffaele on Tuesday, May 29 from 3 to 8 pm. at the , 10565 Main St., Fairfax, where a rosary will also be said in her honor at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30 at , 6720 Union Mill Road, Clifton, followed by interment on Thursday, May 31 at 11 a.m. in Resurrection Cemetery, 100 Resurrection Road, Coraopolis, Pa. Flowers are accepted, but contributions may also be made to St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, Evercare Hospice and Palliative Care, Fairfax Family Practice Overseas Medical Mission or their Geriatric Care or the Compassion Health Services, Inc.
