Brave 343: Centreville Fire Station Displays Flags for Every Firefighter Lost on Sept. 11

Fire Station 38 has a touching tribute to victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.

On a quiet court off Stone Road in Centreville sits a simple, but touching memorial to 343 Sept. 11, 2001 victims.

West Centreville Fire Station 38 has 343 small flags on the station's front lawn— one for each one of their deceased peers.

Each one of those flags has the name of the late firefighter printed on it.

Station 38 is the only fire station in the county that displays that many flags in honor of the firefighters who died on Sept. 11, station staff said on Tuesday.
The memorial has been placed on the lawn for the past 11 years.

Visit the memorial at 6001 O'Day Drive in Centreville.
