Centreville Home Invasion Case Remains Sealed

Court proceedings continue for Stacy Reed, of Manassas, but no details are available to the public.

Federal prosecutors have achieved two guilty verdicts in a 2010 Centreville home invasion death, but for now the court proceedings for a third suspect remain under seal.

Stacy Lorenzo Reed, of Manassas, faces federal weapons charges in the invasion that led to the death of Jose Rosales Cardona, a Guatemalan immigrant and Manassas Park resident. In January, Reed's case was sent to a grand jury. That is the last detail publicly available, as the case was sealed in April.

A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia said that because the case is under seal, prosecutors cannot discuss it. The status of sealed cases may change subject to judicial review.

These are the last public developments in the case: In December, authorities arrested Reed, a Metro bus driver, while he was on his route. At a court hearing in January, a Fairfax County detective testified that Reed was the leader of a conspiracy to rob the owner of the Centreville mansion. The detective said that Reed planned the robbery and drove two other men to the home.

That plan went horribly wrong when with the two men, who have already pleaded guilty to the home invasion.
