Centreville to Celebrate National Night Out
Residents around the area will show their support for police, crime prevention.
Neighborhoods throughout Centreville will shine brightly tonight as residents leave their outdoor lights on and celebrate National Night Out with ice cream, parties and some wholesome fun.
National Night Out is a yearly event celebrated throughout communities in America to increase neighborhood support for the police, anticrime programs and drug prevention awareness. Over 37 million people across America participated in last year's event, National Night Out organizers estimate.
In the Centreville area, Fairfax County police and firefighters will join local residents for fun and games at block parties, ice cream socials and cookouts. Neighbors who can't attend can always leave the lights on outside their home to show their support. The traditional display demonstrates community solidarity against crime.
