Crime Solvers Seeks Suspects in Recent Stolen Vehicle and Theft Cases

Three cars were stolen in Centreville; two were recently recovered but police are still looking for a 2010 silver Mustang convertible.

Fairfax County Crime Solvers is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the persons responsible for stealing three different vehicles along with various items from at least 10 other vehicles during the overnight hours of Friday, April 4 into the early morning of Saturday, April 5.

Investigations have determined the suspects pulled door handles in search of unlocked vehicles, which were parked in residential areas of Centreville. They stole property and money from the unlocked vehicles. In three of those unlocked vehicles the suspects also found car keys and were then able to steal the three vehicles as well.

Two of those vehicles, a 2007 Toyota Solara and a 2010 Toyota Corolla, were recovered this week. The other vehicle, a 2010 silver convertible Ford Mustang with Virginia license plates XAL-8685, has not yet been recovered.

Detectives are hopeful someone will see this vehicle parked in the area and report it to police. It is possible the suspects may remove the license plates from the stolen car and replace them with stolen license plates from another car. Community residents are asked to be watchful for suspicious activity in and around their neighborhoods and report it to police immediately.

Additionally, residents are reminded to lock doors and not to leave items of value in vehicles, especially those vehicles parked outside; this includes your keys. Each of these stolen vehicles requires a micro-chipped key, specific to that particular vehicle, in order to operate it. It is important to note that if your keys and vehicle are stolen, more than likely the thief now has your house key and address as well.
