Two Female Passengers Die in Single-Vehicle Crash on I-66

Police say "fatigue appears to be a factor," after male driver hits tree Friday morning.

Two female passengers died Friday morning after their vehicle ran off the right side of the road from the westbound lanes of Interstate 66 near Fairfax County Parkway, Virginia State Police said in a news release Friday. They died at the scene of the crash, according to police.

The driver, Clarence R. Waller, 53, of Chester, Penn., was taken to Fairfax Inova with minor injuries.

The deceased were identified as passenger Shyrel Scott-Waller, 53, of Chester, Penn., the driver's wife. The second passenger who died is identified as Juanita Ann Waller, 54, of Lanham Md., the driver's sister.

Fatigue appears to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. 

Police were called to the scene at 6:09 a.m.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to police. The Virginia State Police Fairfax Division Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene.
