Investigators: Townhouse Intentionally Set on Fire

Damage estimated at $121,000, fire investigators say.

Officials from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department said a Saturday evening fire on Cool Oak Lane in Centreville was set intentionally.

The fire started around 7:30 p.m. and residents were warned by a fire alarm. When they arrived, firefighters saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the first and second floors of the two-story home. The Incident Commander struck a second fire alarm, bringing approximately 60 firefighters to the scene. Firefighters fought the fire inside and brought it under control in approximately 20 minutes.

Investigators estimated that the fire caused approximately $121,000 in damages. They believe the fire started on the first floor.
