Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Centreville

Woman, 71, was visiting relatives in the Centreville area, police said.

A 71-year-old woman visiting family in the Centreville area was struck and killed Tuesday night as she crossed Lee Highway near Trinity Parkway, Fairfax County Police said Wednesday in a news release.

Benfeng Liu was crossing the northbound lanes when she was struck by a 2012 Hyundai at around 9:30 p.m. 

She was then struck by a second vehicle, a 1999 Volvo that was unable to stop in time. Both drivers stopped and waited for police to arrive.

The crash remains under investigation by Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives. There have been no charges placed at this time.
