Police: Elderly Centreville Resident Chased Man With Meat Cleaver

No injuries were reported.

A 76-year-old Centreville man is accused of chasing another man down a Herndon street with a meat cleaver. The reason? The victim apparently had made disrespectful remarks about him, according to Herndon Police reports.

Sun Yang of Centreville was arrested Sept. 6 and charged with attempted aggravated assault and malicious wounding in connection with an incident that happened in Herndon that day.

Police said the suspect became angry and chased the man down the 1100 block of Herndon Parkway after hearing the victim had made unkind remarks about him.
The victim eluded his chaser and manager to escape with no reported injuries.
Yang was taken to the Fairfax County Detention Center. Bond information isn't available.
