Police Make Arrest in Centreville Homicide

Sebastian Velasco Santiago, 20, of Centreville, has been charged with murder, police said.

Fairfax County Police have charged a Centreville man with murder and have taken him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, police said Wednesday in a news release.

The man who police arrested and charged on Wednesday is Sebastian Velasco Santiago, 20, of Centreville.

The man who died was Domingo Eduardo Santiago Cuchil, also from the Centreville area; he died on Sunday, after suffering a stab wound on Saturday.

On Saturday, police responded to a report of an assault with a weapon in the 14400 block of Golden Oak Road at around 11 p.m. They found a wounded man lying on the sidewalk. After calling for Fire and Rescue personnel, officers were notified about another possible wounded man nearby; at a home in the 14400 block of Cool Oak Lane.

The investigation determined that the men knew each other and were neighborhood acquaintances. Detectives believe that there was an altercation involving unknown assailant(s), but are still gathering further details regarding the motive or reason for the altercation.

The deceased man was identified as Cuchil, no fixed address, in the Centreville area. He was pronounced dead on Sunday at Inova Fairfax Hospital. 

The other man was identified as a 31-year-old Centreville man. He suffered non life-threatening injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital.
