Fairfax County Police have charged a Centreville man with the murder following the death of a 49-year-old woman early Monday morning.

Man Ha Park, 53, allegedly stabbed the victim early this morning, which resulted in her death. Her sister, 52, who was also stabbed and sent to the hospital in life-threatening condition. Both Park and the second woman were taken to iNova Fairfax hospital, where they are being treated for their injuries. A helicopter was requested, but the two were taken by ambulance instead due to the early-morning fog, Fairfax Fire and Rescue spokesman Dan Schmidt said.

Neighbors in The Elms at Centreville reported hearing screams and banging on doors in the early-morning hours. Someone called 911 at 5:32 a.m., while the incident was still apparently taking place.

Police spokesperson Lucy Caldwell said the incident, which occurred at Park's home at 13836 Braddock Springs Road, was a domestic dispute, and that police do not believe anyone else was involved. All three people knew one another, but Caldwell said she couldn't be more specific as to how just yet.

A neighbor said that the early morning noise was out of character for the family who lived in the apartment, who were normally pretty quiet. Many people who work near the area were also shocked to hear of the stabbing in this normally quiet area of town.

Gana Collett arrived to her job just across the street at the Old Centreville Crossing shopping plaza a few minutes before 6 a.m. "I got out of my car and saw there were about five police cars," she said. There were also two ambulances, she said.

As of mid-morning the area was still blocked off and police were examining the stairwell for evidence.

This is the fifth homicide in Fairfax County for the year and the second in Centreville in just over a week. Both of the incidents in Centreville were domestic disputes. At the end of May, 18-year-old of his father, Francis Koroma.
