Vandals Smash 44 Cars Overnight in Centreville

Suspects stole items from vehicles Thursday from 1-5 a.m., police say.

Residents living on several streets in Centreville awoke yesterday morning to find their car windows smashed and items stolen from their cars.

Sometime between 1 and 5 a.m. Thursday, suspects smashed the windows out of 44 vehicles in Centreville and stole items from them, according to Fairfax County Police.

Thieves rummaged through the vehicles' glove boxes and stole a variety of items including GPS units, iPods, sunglasses and loose change, police said.

The areas of Centreville that were targeted were Bent Tree Circle, Little Rocky Run, Summer Tree Road, Glade Spring Drive and Cider Barrel Circle.
