Centreville Voters Guide to the Primaries

What you need to know on election day.

The primary elections are today, Aug. 23rd. Here's what to expect at the polls:

When to vote

All polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Anyone in line before 7 p.m. can cast their ballot. The last day to cast an absentee ballot in-person was on Saturday, Aug. 20, but absentee ballots will still be counted if the elections office receives them by 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Who's on the ballot

Centreville resident and . The winner will run against Sheriff Stan Barry in November. 

In the 37th district, Centreville businessman will compete for the Republican candidacy against former school board member . The winner will run against in the fall. Keep in mind that the Poplar Tree, Cub Run and Stone precincts (among several others) are no longer within the 37th district. 

A number of other elections affecting the Centreville area are uncontested in the primaries, but the races will undoubtedly heat up as the November elections draw near.
