Commission Recommends Approval for Expansion of Compton Road Electrical Substation

Dominion Power wants to significantly expand the Harrison Substation on Compton Road.

The Fairfax County Planning Commission recommended on Thursday that the Board of Supervisors approve Dominion Virginia Power's bid to expand the Harrison Substation on Compton Road. 

No speakers attended the public hearing on the matter Thursday night. In order to , Dominion has to obtain a special exception application and a public facilities application. The matter will now go before the Board of Supervisors for final approval. 

Fairfax County staff have also previously recommended approval of expansion at the substation, which is owned by NOVEC. Sully District Commissioner John L. Litzenberger Jr. said Thursday night that Dominion has reached out to homeowners and homeowners' associations in the area with information on the project.
