Lane Closures Scheduled for Route 50

VDOT recommends that drivers find alternate routes Saturday as workers install traffic lights.

Lanes on Route 50 will be closed in both directions beginning around 8 p.m. Friday night and continuing into Saturday, as workers install new traffic lights. The work will take place at the intersection of Route 50 and Lee Road.

Drivers should expect delays Saturday. VDOT recommends taking alternate routes until the work is completed. From the VDOT website:

Lane closures will be up in both the Eastbound and Westbound directions of Route 50 until completion. Also, police officers will be stopping traffic periodically so that the signal subcontractor can remove the permanent poles and install the new temporary signal poles and new span wire. Upon completion of this work, the new intersection will be fully operational and the traffic configuration through the intersection will stay the same.

Workers will remove signal poles and signal heads. They will then install new temporary signal poles with new overhead span wire and temporary signal heads.
