Tagg and Ben Romney help target Asian-American voters in visits to two Northern Virginia Asian schools.

Gov. Bob McDonnell and two of Mitt Romney's five sons, Tagg and Ben, plan to make a campaign blitz Sunday targeting the area's Asian-American population in Northern Virginia for the GOP presidential nominee.

Dubbed the "Romney-Ryan Real Recovery Road Rally," the three will visit Centreville, Fairfax, Annandale, Springfield, Sterling and Staunton on Sunday.

Asian American voters will be a key aspect of the presidential election in Virginia on Tuesday, National Journal congressional correspondent Shane Goldmacher pointed out Friday on Morning Edition with host Matt McCleskey.

"Virginia's one of the great examples that campaign strategists look to on both sides of the aisle," Goldmacher said. "This is a vote that can be one by both Republicans and Democrats. In 2009, Bob McDonnell ran for governor and he made a huge outreach to Asian-Americans."

"He sent mailers in Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese and Tagolog, and he actually ended up winning some of the most Asian precincts in the state just a year after President Obama carry them," Goldmacher pointed out. "They literally flipped between the two sides."

The rally schedule on Sunday:

10 a.m.: Korean Central Presbyterian Church, 15451 Lee Highway, Centreville

12:15 p.m.: Fairfax Victory Office, 4246 Chain Bridge, Fairfax

1:15 p.m.: Hope Chinese School, Annandale High School, 4700 Medford Dr., Annandale

2 p.m.: Weihwa Taiwanese School, West Springfield High School, 6100 Rolling Road, Springfield

Hope Chinese School bills itself as the D.C. area's largest Chinese school system in the Greater Washington area, with 4,000 students at six campuses teaching Chinese language and culture classes.

Afterward, swinging through southern and central Fairfax County, the entourage will head to GOP campaign offices in Sterling and Staunton.
