Overnight Delays at Route 50 and Fairfax County Parkway

Delays start Oct. 3 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Motorists should expect overnight delays at Fairfax County Parkway and Route 50, Monday through Thursday the week of Oct. 3 while crews erect structural steel for the bridge over Rt. 50 as part of the Fairfax County Parkway/Fair Lakes Parkway interchange project. Drivers can also expect temporary stoppages of up to 15 minutes throughout these nights while steel is lifted and secured into place.

Drivers can expect the following closures between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.:

Oct. 3: Two lanes on northbound Fairfax County Parkway, two lanes on westbound Rt. 50 and the ramp from northbound Fairfax County Parkway to westbound Rt. 50 will be closed.

Oct. 4: Two lanes on southbound Fairfax County Parkway, two lanes on westbound Rt. 50 and the ramp from northbound Fairfax County Parkway to westbound Rt. 50 will be closed.

Oct. 5: Two lanes northbound and one lane southbound on Fairfax County Parkway, two lanes on eastbound Rt. 50 and the ramp from southbound Fairfax County Parkway to eastbound Rt. 50 will be closed.

Oct. 6: Two lanes in each direction on Rt. 50, the ramp from northbound Fairfax County Parkway to westbound Rt. 50, and the ramp from southbound Fairfax County Parkway to eastbound Rt. 50 will be closed.

All work is weather permitting. In case of inclement weather, work may continue Friday and the following week.

Message boards are posted. Fairfax County Police will assist crews with traffic control each night.
