Upcoming Meeting on Deer Management in Sully District Parks

Fairfax County will hold a meeting on Monday to address the deer management program.

This fall, archers armed with bows and arrows and officers from the SWAT team will hunt for deer in some Fairfax County Parks.

The effort is part of Fairfax County's deer management program, an attempt to help control the massive overpopulation of deer throughout the county through sharpshooting, managed hunts and archery. The county will continue its series of public meetings on the deer management program at the Sully District Governmental Center on Aug. 22. at 7 p.m.

The program, authorized by the Board of Supervisors, has been around for over a decade. ,, the and Sully Woodlands are among the parks participating. Sharpshooting and managed hunts will not take place at all parks participating in the program.
