Video: CVHS Honors Retiring Principal Michael Campbell

Community members and elected officials held an open house on Tuesday.

The Centreville High School PTSA hosted an open house on Tuesday for . 

Campbell will be moving on to Huntsville, AL, where he will take on a new position as principal at J.O. Johnson High School. 

During the open house, Fairfax County Supervisors Pat Herrity (Springfield) and Michael Frey (Sully) presented a plaque and read a resolution thanking Campbell for his service to . Sen. Dave Marsden and school board members Kathy Smith and Ryan McElveen also said a few words thanking Campbell.

Smith said she had known Campbell for a long time, and his advice was invaluable to her as a school board member.

"I could always trust Mike to be a good sounding board for me, if I wasn't sure which direction to go or what to do," Smith said. 

The PTSA also presented Campbell with a frame with a picture of a brick inside. The PTSA is selling the bricks as a fundraiser for the new CVHS turf field, and Campbell's brick will be engraved with his name and placed at the entrance to the football stadium.
