Money Talks: Board Member to Discuss Budget at Centreville High in January

School Board member Elizabeth L. Schultz and other Fairfax County Public Schools staff are getting an early jump on the lengthy budget discussion by hosting a public meeting early next month in Clifton.

Schultz, representative of the Springfield District, along with Susan Quinn, FCPS Assistant Superintendent of Financial Services, are hosting the EarlyBudget Talk Session the week of Jan. 6, at Centreville High School at 6001 Union Mill Rd., according to the Fairfax County School Board office.

The exact date hasn't yet been announced, district staff said.
The meeting was originally scheduled for Dec. 10 at the school but was postponed because of inclement weather.
January's session will include a presentation with an overview of the schools' budget situation.

There will also be time for parents, students and teachers to ask questions about the budget and give their opinion on the Fiscal Year 2015 schools' budget.

In September the school board adopted a $2.5 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2014, about 1.1 percent more than the approved budget for the previous year.
